Call for Abstracts

Scientific session, and poster session abstracts are invited on topics addressing the myriad aspects of the perinatal health. Quality proposals that specifically address the multiple contexts of health pertaining to perinatal care are invited. The abstracts should reflect the conference theme of “Spectrum of healthcare from mother to baby”.

 Deadline for Abstract Submission

The proposal deadline is March 20, 2012. You are strongly encouraged to submit abstracts as soon as possible. Since the conference program must be finalized and presenters notified in time for preconference coordination, it may not be possible to accept late proposals.  

Presenter Information

Due to budgetary restrictions, it is not possible to offer an honorarium or to waive registration fees for program presenters. All presenters will be expected to register and pay appropriate conference registration fees.

Contexts of Perinatal Care in the Texas/New Mexico-Mexico border region: Impact of mother, baby, health care professional and community contexts on the care of the mother and baby (prenatal & postnatal)

Instructions for abstract submission:

1.     Deadline for abstract submission is March 20, 2012

2.     Presentations may be

(a) Applied or Basic Research. Data can be quantitative and/or qualitative

Abstracts submitted under “Applied or Basic Research” must include:

a.     Title

b.     Purpose

c.     Background

d.     Methods

e.     Results

f.      Conclusions

 (b) Models of Care related to perinatal care

Abstracts submitted under “Models of Care” must include:

g.     Title

h.     Purpose/Issue

i.      Statement of Objectives/strategies

j.      Description

k.     Evaluation or Lessons Learned

l.      Recommendations(next steps)

3.     All abstracts must be categorized into one of the following 2 areas:

·      Ethics in Perinatal Care

·      Contexts of Perinatal Care in the Texas/New Mexico-Mexico border region: Impact of mother, baby, health care professional and community contexts on the care of the mother and baby (prenatal & postnatal)

4.     All abstracts must include at least 2 learning objectives for the session. Abstracts must be limited to 250 words or less (excluding Title and learning objectives) and in Times Roman 12 point font.

5.     Abstracts can be submitted for podium or poster presentations. Podium presentations will be 15 minutes long with 4 presentations in one panel.  Poster displays must fit 4ft by 6 ft space. Abstracts previously presented are also invited.

6.     All authors will be notified about the status of their abstracts by April 5, 2012.

Primary Learning Objectives:

By the end of the scientific sessions:

(i)    the participants/audience will gain knowledge related to at least 2 issues related ethics pertaining to perinatal care

(ii)  the participants/audience will gain knowledge related to at least two contexts of perinatal care which are critical to providing perinatal care in the Texas/New Mexico- Mexico border region.
